Firetap Debuts Wireless Local Area Network Services

FIRETAP Communications, Inc., a leading provider of broadband and digital communication services for the real estate industry, today announced it has added wireless local area network (WLAN) services to its extensive list of telecommunications offerings for real estate offices and residences. FIRETAP"s WLAN offering allows its partners to lease wireless equipment at a fraction of the cost a hard-wired network would cost per workstation. It also allows brokers and agents to continue using wireless networks in combination with their existing LANs. WLAN functions by using radio frequencies that go through walls and ceilings, allowing every square foot of office space to have a wireless network connection. According to Geis, wireless networks are especially useful to brokers and agents because they let portable computers remain mobile, allowing workstations to be set up anywhere within the building with access to file-sharing and high-speed Internet access. As word of wireless LAN technology spreads, sales are growing rapidly. According to Phillips InfoTech, a technology market research company in Parsippany, N.J., industry revenues will climb from $300 million in 1999 to $1.7 billion in 2004. FIRETAP adds the new WLAN service to its extensive list of communications offerings, including high-speed Internet access such as DSL, satellite and T1 technologies, as well as long distance, conference calling, intranet and email services, toll free strategies, switches, PBX, long distance, voice mail systems, DID and merged telecom systems. FIRETAP Communications is a leading authority in integrated communications solutions for the real estate industry. Established by Homestore.com and the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), its mission is to provide all real estate industry professionals the broadband resources they need in order to meet the heavy bandwidth demands resulting from the advent of the Internet revolution. FIRETAP Communications is the preferred provider for the majority of telecommunications services provided to NAR members through the REALTOR Rewards(tm) program, a group buying program providing unique benefits to REALTORs® nationwide.
