I have an observation when it comes to what the market leaders in real
estate are doing: they network with other sales associates, both local and
nationwide, who use technology.
Market leaders realize that 90% of the business is now being done by
slightly more than 10% of the agents in many market areas, those who use the
tools mentioned above, and they network like crazy with this 10%. They contact
sales associates in other states who have good Web sites and add them to their
agent email newsletter and/or link them to their sites. They distribute
pictures of new listings or, better yet, email PhotoShare multimedia
presentations of their listings to the local heavy hitters. They network at
the NAR conventions, at the CRS Sell-A-Bration and at their franchise
conventions.
Based what I see in market leaders nationwide and what I know works, here
are a few of my recommendations aimed at helping you use technology to dominate
your market.
Hire An Assistant Who Knows Technology
An assistant who knows technology and who takes care of your technology
needs frees you to do what you do best: meet people and cultivate business.
It’s as simple as that. If you have 25 or more transactions and don’t have a
personal assistant, you’re tied up doing the "little things" instead of
generating business. If you currently have an assistant, but he or she
doesn’t know and use technology, you’re severely handicapped.
Take A One-Day Windows Course
If you know the main functions of Windows (cut, paste, copy, organizing and
finding information on your hard drive, inserting images and sound files,
etc.), using any software and navigating the Web becomes much less
intimidating, and you’ll start maximizing the power of the tools you have.
Attend the RS 206 Two Day Technology course.
Okay, So this one"s a bit self-promotional, but it"s still the best "put it
all together" technology course in the real estate industry by far, covering
everything from making money with a database, using paper and multimedia
presentation software, digital cameras, using pda’s, making money from your

Those who use technology are taking the market away from those who don’t,
even from those who have been established market leaders for years. Take the
time now to make sure you’re among the survivors in our industry, the ones who
use technology to the fullest.
