Portland Second Home Buyers Like To Stay Close By

Towns with lots of scenery and water such as Welches, Tualatin, and Wilsonville are becoming increasingly attractive to Portland primary and second home buyers, say local Realtors. Welches "Sales this fall and winter are booming with homes flying off the shelf," says Realtor Liz Warren. "Multiple offers are commonplace and the inventory is nearly depleted. This isn"t only second homes for recreationalists, but primary homes for Portlanders who are tired of the rat race. This is driving local prices up at a quick pace. This year may surpass last year"s record with continued low interest rates!" Tualatin Say Realtors John and Priscilla DeCosta, "With sale prices averaging $259,300 (up seven percent from last year), Tualatin is clearly a seller"s market. With its close proximity to Portland and a strong community atmosphere, its no wonder that homes in Tualatin only stay on the market for an average of 30-40 days." Wilsonville "Wilsonville is a great community whether you commute to Portland or work in nearby Tualatin, Lake Oswego, West Linn or Tigard," suggests Realtor Kathy Whitman. "Wilsonville, located on I-5 between Salem and Portland is ideally located for access anywhere. A new Costco, Target and other stores and restaurants make shopping convenient, and the schools are highly rated. New subdivisions are being built by Renaissance Homes and others, so there are plenty of "move-up" homes. Families in Wilsonville do not want to move."
