Thursday Virus Means Business - Don"t Give It Yours!

A new computer virus "Thursday" has been identified that infects Microsoft Word documents and even those who don"t use Word, but attempt to open an infected Word file. Unlike many viruses, which often don"t do much real damage, this one will try to delete all files and subdirectories from the root of the C: drive. Worse yet, this virus will also disable the macro virus protection in Word 97! Network Associates has rated this one a "high risk," only the fourth virus to make this grade since they began risk assessments earlier this year. The good news: you"ve got plenty of time to buy or update your virus protection software this time. While its named "Thursday" it will actually trigger on Monday Dec. 13, this year. The bad news: Many users may check their systems this month, and then forget about the virus and become infected prior to the December trigger date. My advice to you: 1) Visit one of the leading anti-virus software vendors today. 2) Update your software to protect your system. 3) Schedule a reminder in your contact manager to recheck your system on December 11th or 12th just to make sure you don"t get infected between now and then!
