Waukesha-Area Market Is Active, Say Wisconsin Realtors

Local Realtors say Waukesha has some of the fastest-moving real estate in the state, due to growing population, low unemployment, and high quality-of-life amenities. "Waukesha is a wonderful suburban city with a rural feel and a population of 65,825 covering 21.6 square miles," says Realtor Mark Dallmann. "Waukesha offers most everything a large city does with its library, hospital, business and 900 acres of parks. Although slowing a bit, Waukesha has enjoyed strong sales this year with an average sale price of $214,207 compared to $194,279 last year, up 10.25 percent. As of Oct 31st there are 244 active single family listings with 776 sold year-to-date and an average days on market of 42." "Waukesha has the most active real estate in the county," says Realtor Jason Campbell. "It has parks, swimming pools, events. Waukesha has many schools to choose from. There are a lot of sport activities for kids and adults. It is a great place to live. The starting price for houses in Waukesha is about 150"s. Houses tend to sell quickly in Waukesha." Waukesha County "Waukesha County is located in southeastern Wisconsin, directly west of Milwaukee County and 100 miles northwest of Chicago," describes Realtor Lana Levchenko. "The county covers 576 square miles and consists of 7 cities, 18 villages, and 12 towns. Waukesha County, one of Wisconsin"s fastest growing counties, has 360,767 residents with an increase in population by 56,052 during the 1990"s. "Waukesha County experiences a broad range of highs and lows in temperature and precipitation during the course of a year," continues Levchenko. "Average daily high temperature range from a low of 24.3 degrees in January to a high of 82.6 degrees in July. The yearly average for precipitation is 30.9 inches. Average snowfall is 38.1 inches.There are over 12,000 employers in Waukesha County, employing more than 218,000 workers. Manufacturing (26 percent), services (25 percent), and retail trade (16 percent) represents the largest employment sectors in Waukesha County. Economic growth and associated employment opportunities continue to be strong. Waukesha County consistently registers one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.
